The project is on schedule at this point for a June 1st completion date. There are various volunteers still putting in lots of time making decisions on lighting, furnishings and finishes and we appreciate their help. We appreciate all of the input and hope that everyone understands that not all ideas will be incorporated. Time is of the essence so many decisions are being made as we go to ensure the crew stays busy. House Committee: Welcome to all the new members that have joined over the last few months! It’s exciting to see a bunch of new faces join our club, so please take a minute to introduce yourself if you see a new face. New members that have joined since January 1st include: Lee Atkinson and Tina Seavert, Tanner and Danielle Able, Shaun Cederholm, Allen and Elaine Case, Jason and Angela Gorham, Shaunna Fleming, Tim Hall, Jeret Johnson and Brittane Johnson, Mel Jackson, Clint and Peggy Smithe, Jacob Johnston, Jason Mooney and Crystal Weseman, Luke McKern and Larry and Nicole Wooldridge. We’ve had a couple of scrambles already with really good participation. Our first big tournament, the Summer Kickoff, will be June 5th and 6th. This is a Two – Person event with a scramble on the first day and a Chapman on the second day and is replacing the Fall Classic; we hope for a great turn out so mark your calendars! We had between 40 and 50 club members who widened the white tee boxes, laid sod, plugged the greens, burnt the weeds out of the creek, cut out sprinkler heads, used a laser range finder to verify hole yardages, etc. A special thanks to a bunch of youngsters who placed sand and seed in fairway divots and helped with the beverage cart; Braden and Devin Bell, and Cody, Kenzie, Karsen and Katie Williams. The grass is growing rapidly now that we’ve had some warmer weather so the mowing schedule has started. The sprinkler system has some leaks, but the crew has been busy fixing those as they pop up. The greens are recovering a little slower than we had hoped from the snow mold, but they will be ready in no time as we get some sustainable warmer temperatures. Please remember to use the sand and seed bottles and fill in any divots that you find. Also, please remember to repair your ball marks on the greens. The more we do as members to take care of the course, the less maintenance cost we have and it leads to a better golfing experience for everyone. General Comments: A reminder on dress code; dress should be tasteful at all times, no holey or dirty clothes, no underwear visible, no tank tops, sweat pants or nylon shorts. When golfing; proper attire includes a collared shirt, acceptable shorts, jeans, skort or slacks. Please remember the club is pretty flexible on attire, but we also want to respect our club in how we dress. The board started implementing our policy on collared shirts last year and we want to remind everyone that the expectation is collared shirts while on the golf course. Another reminder to all members, in-county guests can golf twice a year with a member, which is the limit unless they join. If we bring our friends golfing more than that all we do is discount the value of our membership and allow people to have all the benefits of our great golf course and club without supporting it year round. Our pro shop staff will be monitoring and enforcing this policy. We are also considering restricting times that guests and out of county golfers can play. Allowing people to stop by whenever they want to play not only slows up play, but adds wear to the course. Final Word from the President: I would once again like to thank all members for their positive comments and patience during the renovation. As you can see from how it looks already, this is going to be something we can all be proud of for a very long time. I would also like to thank Craig Simanton and Brent Wylam for all the help on the Board of Directors. Craig has been instrumental in helping with the budgeting and finance process the last three years and plans on continuing to help on that committee. Brent was key in helping install the inventory system in the pro shop and for ordering merchandise in addition to his help on the tournament committee. Thanks guys for volunteering your time for the betterment of the club.
Thanks….Clint Williams |
