February News Print E-mail

News from the Board:
The board meeting was held on February 17th with an Executive Session immediately following the regular board meeting.  Members present, Bill Anhorn, Mike Moeller, and Becky Weaver.

Nash subdivision:
Nothing new to report on the progress at this time.  We would like to extend our best wishes for a speedy recovery to Ron.

Clubhouse renovations:
An agreement was signed with WC Construction to complete the clubhouse renovation and build the new pro shop.  The project will be completed by June 1st and will start the week of February 22nd.  Russ Scott will be the direct contact with WC throughout the project and will be organizing volunteers to help with demolition activities and cleanup.  Once the project is started it is very important that we as members stay out of the construction area and allows the contractors to do their job, not only for safety reasons, but also for cost savings.

House Committee:
With the start of the remodel we will be transitioning our bar service to the downstairs bar area and plan to be fully utilizing the downstairs by Friday March 5th.   While that bar area is not set up quite as well as the upper bar, it will be adequate to service our member needs during the remodel.  Demolition of the upstairs is planned to be completed by March 8th.  Once we move downstairs, the upstairs area will be closed until the remodel is complete.

A big thanks to the Ladies Organization for putting on another outstanding Crab Feed!  The Ladies have the kitchen almost complete and are only waiting on one more cabinet.  The kitchen looks great and should prove to be a lot more user friendly.

There are new faces behind the bar, if you haven’t done so already, please introduce yourself to Hillary McClean and Martha Billings.

 Greens Committee:
Soon it will be time to get the course ready for increased play and for mowing.  As always there is a lot to be done this Spring, so we will be planning at least one work day for March.  The work day date will be posted at the clubhouse as soon as it is confirmed.  Chuck and Wade have already started on a number of projects and they will need our help, so the more members that volunteer for the work days the better.

The sand and seed bottles have been put out, so please take one with you on your round and fill in any divots that you find.  Putting that material down now will show a big benefit in a few months.  Also, please remember to repair your ball marks on the greens, we’re not out of the freezing weather yet, so the more we can do now to take care of our course the less expense we will have later to our club.

 Final word from the President:
Did you know that the pro shop generated $20,000 more in sales in 2009 than it did in 2008?  Revenue from those sales goes directly into our club, so thanks to everyone that supported our golf shop and also thanks to Cody, Alan and the rest of the pro shop staff.  Increasing sales and revenue is part of the reason we are building a new pro shop, Cody will be working hard to have a variety of products available at competitive prices throughout the year and will also be targeting outside sales by offering an online shop through our website.  I would ask that before you buy any new golfing item, whether it is a club, shoes, clothing or accessories, talk with Cody first to see if he can get you the same product.

Thanks….Clint Williams
